Salutations visitors of DondiJ. I bet you are wondering who I am, where do I come from and the meanings behind my works.

To start off, I am a native New Yorker who was born and raised in Manhattan. Most of my life has been spent in NYC interacting with my fellow New Yorkers or its later day transplanted citizens, and marveling at the city’s diversity and colorful nature. In short my art is about everyday people presented in a colorful candy flavored form of pop art.  My major influences on my works have been a mix of comic book artists, illustrators and old masters of art such as The Hernandez Brothers,Adrian Tomine, Aubrey Beardsley, Tara McPherson, Egon Schiele, Paul Gauguin, and Raymond Petibon.

The origin of my name comes from a renowned graffiti and celebrated urban artist named Dondi Michael White. He is another influence of mine. Although I am not a graffiti artist, I do have an utmost respect for street artist and the urban visual culture. My art can be very urban at times and I want to pay homage to this great and late talent.

Many of my works offer an opinion of the day, while others celebrate life, ranging from the urban experience, women, minorities, life styles or even some snarky satire of some form. All of which is in good fun!

At the moment this site is still going through major construction. So bare with me as we journey through the wonderful world of Dondi.J
